Privacy Policy
Exometer is a website and API monitoring service operated by Simple Magic Software LLC (“Exometer”, “we”, “us”), based in Irvington, NY, United States. This policy explains what we collect when you use exometer.com and app.exometer.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and, if you sign in with Google or GitHub, the basic profile those services share with us.
- What you monitor: the URLs and settings of your checks, including any request headers or credentials you add, which we store encrypted.
- Notification channels: the email addresses, mobile numbers, chat webhooks and other destinations you set up to receive alerts.
- Monitoring results: response times, status codes, errors and certificate details from the checks we run for you.
- Invitation requests: the email address you submit to request access.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and timestamps in our server logs, and a strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you signed in. Your theme preference is stored only in your browser.
How we use it
We use this information to provide and secure Exometer: to run your checks, show their results, send the alerts and verification codes you set up, answer support requests, and tell you about important changes to the service. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Text messages (SMS) and WhatsApp
When you add a mobile number as an alert channel, we send it a one-time code to confirm it, and from then on the uptime alerts you’ve chosen for your checks. We use mobile numbers only for these messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Your number is shared only with the providers that deliver the messages (Telnyx for SMS, and Meta through Telnyx for WhatsApp), solely to deliver them.
Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. You can also remove the number in Exometer at any time. Message frequency depends on your alert settings, and message and data rates may apply.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Exometer, under agreements that limit their use of it:
- DigitalOcean, which hosts our servers and databases in the United States;
- Resend, which delivers email;
- Telnyx and Meta, which deliver SMS and WhatsApp messages;
- Google and GitHub, only if you choose to sign in with them;
- Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Google Chat, Telegram or webhook endpoints, only when you set them up as alert channels.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and Exometer.
How long we keep it
We keep monitoring results for up to 400 days and server logs for a short period. Deleting a check deletes its history. When you close your account, we delete your account information and organization data, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Security
We protect data in transit with TLS, encrypt stored credentials and webhook secrets, and restrict access to our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
Your choices
You can view and update your information in Exometer, and ask us to access, correct, export or delete it by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we’ll honor them.
Children
Exometer is a business service and isn’t directed to children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in Exometer.
